Independant Audit Criteria
THE RawSAFE AUDIT CRITERIA

The RawSAFE team has worked closely with experts in human food manufacturing standards and have examined well known standards within that industry. The resulting RawSAFE standards match the standards required for human food production with relevant adaptations to safely utilise the various ingredients used in pet foods (but less common in human food) such as tripe and organ meats.

The criteria for the audit standards have been carefully written by a team with qualifications in assessing and auditing to ensure that they are completely objective. This means that the independent auditor can examine a production line and clearly state “this point is being done” or “that point is not being done”. There is no room for personal opinion, and it’s impossible for a manufacturer to gain the accreditation because someone likes their product, or someone has a commercial involvement with the company, or the company pays a membership fee.
The only means to gain the accreditation is via the independent audit.
A further feature is that as well as the planned audit which will be repeated annually for as long as a manufacturer wishes to be accredited, the manufacturer also agrees to an annual unannounced audit. This will ensure that everything is ALWAYS done to the highest standard, not just on the day of the planned audit.
The company RawSAFE has appointed Eville and Jones as independent auditors who will have visited the factory by appointment, carefully reviewed the company’s processes against the standards written by RawSAFE and confirmed that the company meets those standards.
RawSAFE has the strongest legal protection of the Certification Mark and, should a company fail to meet the audit criteria and not choose to amend the reasons for not meeting the standards, they will no longer be listed here and will be given 3 months to remove the Mark from their packaging, website and other marketing materials.
